Northern Ireland Counselling Forum members together with our patron Patricia Lewsley-Mooney CBE met with MLAs Colin McGrath and Robbie Butler on Tuesday 5th March to discuss challenges and opportunities.
We discussed how counselling professionals already play an important role in the Community & Voluntary Sector and Primary Care.
We highlighted our excellent professional standards in relation to qualifications, ethics, governance, managing risk and working with trauma.
Both MLAs value the impact of counselling interventions and we hope we demonstrated how Counselling can do much more with our under-utilised and highly skilled workforce.
We want to play our part as one of the solutions needed to address the chronic psychological problems of our population.
We are actively working on behalf of all our counsellors and clients.
