Mental Health First Aid

Lighthouse

Regardless of your modality, you’ll be able to integrate the skills and knowledge from Mental Health First Aid directly into your work with clients.

If you’re providing services for a Statutory or Community Agency, you’ll likely have to undertake Mental Health First Aid every 3 years. MHFA ™ is an internationally recognised and evidence-based accredited training program which is now delivered in 24 countries world-wide.

Our MHFA course is delivered in-person, over two full days and introduces participants to a model that can be used to support people with a variety of common mental health problems and crisis situations.

It comprises of 4 modules which include:

• The concept of mental health, illness and recovery.
• Suicide, self-harm and substance use.
• Psychosis and eating disorders.
• Depression and Anxiety.

During the two-day course participants will work alongside two Registered MHFA Instructors who have hands-on experience in working within the field of mental health. After completing the course and a short questionnaire participants achieve their MHFA Certificate which is endorsed by the Public Health Agency and valid for 3 years.

Perhaps your Mental Health First Aid Certificate is due to expire, maybe you’re a student and preparing for your Clinical Placement or simply seeking to update your skills and knowledge in this area? Please contact John Mulholland, our Training Manager to find out more and register for the course.
