Couple Counselling CPD Training In Assessment Skills.
by Julia Greer
This workshop aims to equip participants to skilfully assess the needs of couples presenting for couple counselling in terms of the two individuals and their relationship.
The first session in any therapeutic endeavour is a crucial meeting which begins with the very first contact and may or may not develop into a contract for couple counselling.
Participants will learn to manage the first contact in terms of optimising the possibility of couple work where that is appropriate and to refer on or end when that would be more helpful.
Participants will review their contract ( verbal or written ) to ensure that it is relevant and ethical for relationship counselling, thereby anticipating and minimising some of the ethical dilemmas that can arise in couple work.
The workshop will consider the issue of risk assessment in terms of safety of joint work
Attention will be given to a variety of theoretical frameworks for working with the couple relationship.
Endings in the assessment session will focus on setting a joint agenda for future sessions for the couple or on making an ending.
There will be a 30-minute break mid-morning which participants can use ( for coffee and/or) to network with other couple therapists from across Northern Ireland as cross-referrals among couple therapists is an important aspect of working with couples.
3.5 hours CPD and CPD certificate provided.
