EMOTION FREEDOM TECHNIQUES (EFT) – Tapping
HOW THIS INTERVENTION FITS WITHIN COUNSELLING
In this short presentation Tricia will discuss how and where she makes use of EFT, more commonly known as tapping, in her counselling work.
EFT is a practical, accessible, self-help method where we gently tap on specific points on our body while focussing on our emotions and vocalising our problems or intentions. It is a technique which combines Chinese acupressure and modern psychology. EFT works on the connection between mind, body and emotions. It works with the body’s physical energy system – our meridians – to improve energy flow and promote overall well-being.
EFT can help us find relief, relaxation, resolution and healing around stressful emotional or physical issues. Stress shows itself through disturbed emotions and thinking, through physical pain and through poor social and physical functioning. EFT’s effectiveness is linked to how it rebalances our body’s response to stress. It can help reduce stress levels and promote positive emotional states such as optimism and achievement.
Tricia works as a counsellor in private practice, Action Cancer and in a GP surgery. In this talk Tricia will share a little about the science behind tapping together with some case studies where tapping has helped clients with, for example, pain management, PTSD symptoms, food phobia and anxiety.
